For Want Of Truth

For want of the truth, we dream our own small little dreams. For want of the truth, we construct our systems and reasoning and logic. For want of truth, we disbelieve the workings of our faith and turn to the failures of the world. For want of truth we make all our small little plans, set our tiny little goals, and scurry ant-like toward them.

And then in the absence of truth, we collapse in despair when our dreams and hopes are smashed in a second.

All my life I've searched for the truth, to free myself from these false defeats. I don't think we can know all truth. We can know some of it. Then we start building our too-small plans again. I want to set my heart on those dreams that are higher. I want to take the stuff of dreams and learn to use it as a building material. I want to have faith to believe and not think about what tomorrow will bring.

If, for want of truth, we hurt and despair and break ourselves... Think for a moment what would happen if we learned to live in truth.

Truth is not about me being perfect. It's not about me knowing what to say. It's not about me. It's not about having to care for other people - not when that's a burden. It's not about expecting yourself to change a place. It shouldn't be unnatural. Truth is something natural and God has planted deep in our hearts. We need to learn to listen - to live truthfully as ourselves, and freely as ourselves. Truth is about freedom. Freedom is about joy. Joy produces love - it cannot help but do that. Love will change the face of this world.
